A women's low-top sneaker made from eco-friendly materials
By creating the Topsy, we wanted to offer you the finest vintage in eco-friendly sneakers thanks to theuse of recycled wine-growing waste.
To design the outer covering of our vegan women's low-top sneaker, we opted for a faux leather made from grape pomace, recycled polyester and water-based polyurethane, manufactured in 7 steps:
Grape harvest
Juice extraction for beverages
Recovery of grape waste (skins, seeds, stems)
Grinding of dry residue (grape pomace)
Mixture with binding agents
Spread, texture and shade
Ready-to-use material
For the rest, we exclusively use ecological and recycled materials, certified OEKO TEX 100:
The inner lining is made from plastic bottles recovered from the Mediterranean, then recycled.
The laces are woven in Portugal from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
The insole is made of cork and recycled plastic fibers.
The outsole is made from 30% recycled rubber.
Eco-friendly manufacturing rhymes with local production and controlled transport distances; our materials are not only selected for their quality, but also according to their origin, since all are sourced from Italy, Portugal and Spain.
The materials are then transported and assembled into shoes in northern Portugal, less than 800 km from France. Producing in a country close to France allows us to reduce the distances involved in importing goods and to avoid using raw materials and products from the other side of the world.
In summary, the Topsy is a 100% European women's low-top sneaker, designed to significantly limit the ecological impact related to transport, and in particular greenhouse gas emissions.

Comfortable to wear, easy to care for
Maintaining your Topsy sneakers is very simple: take a damp cloth and a small brush to reach the crevices, and gently rub the outside of the shoe until it regains its shine. Then simply let them air dry, being careful not to expose them to too much sunlight to avoid fading the colors.
For maintenance For areas with a imitation nubuck texture, a soft-bristled brush or a crepe brush is recommended. Take your brush and gently rub in a circular motion. That's all there is to it!
Want to give your insoles a second life and a fresh scent? Remove them from your shoes, place them in a sealed bag with a little baking soda, and leave them for a few hours. Shake your insoles vigorously to remove all the powder, then put them back inside your Topsy shoes.

The Topsy women's low-top sneaker: a name steeped in history
More than just a sneaker, the Topsy is a true ode to life. Its name was inspired by the life of an elephant born in Asia in 1867 and who died in New York in 1903.
Having spent her life in captivity in a circus, and suffering multiple abuses and mistreatment, Topsy, in an act of self-defense—when someone tried to force-feed her a lit cigarette—eventually killed her owner. As punishment, she was sentenced to death, and Topsy was publicly electrocuted on January 4, 1903, at Coney Island.
With her passing, Topsy became a powerful symbol of animal cruelty. For COG, naming our women's low-top sneaker after this elephant is a way to pay tribute to her, but also to proudly display our values by calling for greater respect for animal life.
