Vegetable leather is an integral part of the composition of our shoes. After incorporating grape pomace in our sneakers (firstly for our Topsy plant-based sneaker), this material was used for other shoes, then we decided to add another interesting plant-based alternative to the composition of certain models: recycled cereal material, which makes up, for example our black Alan.
In terms of ecology, we are not simply using recycled vegan materials. These products are part of the circular economy. But what exactly is the circular economy? It's a manufacturing model that aims to create sustainable products designed with respect for the environment and workers. Limiting water use in the production of materials, banning the use of products toxic to humans and nature, and repurposing material scraps to eliminate waste—these are the pillars of a circular economy.
To further our ecological approach, we limit our carbon emissions by choosing to work with footwear professionals in Portugal, Italy and Spain. Made in Europe is not only a strength because our partners are renowned for their talent in terms of producing ecological materials and in the production of shoes, but the other major advantage of collaborating with neighboring countries is the reduction of carbon emissions related to the transport of our products due to the fact that we share the same borders.
